Four flights later, I have arrived in Chennai! At 5 am this morning, we touched down in the Chennai Airport and connected with our hotel driver. Driving in India... There is no "right side" of the road. Or sidewalks. Or a sense of space. And yet I saw traffic police... Not sure what they do. At 11 am we caught a tuktuk (buggy that you start like a lawn mower) to church ! It is so wonderful to feel completely at home halfway across the globe. The church is true! And God works miracles!

While at church, we met many of the volunteer coordinators for Rising Star, whom we will be meeting up with tomorrow. I obviously am not drinking any unbottled water over here, but a shower had to happen. Like that's any better. I have been awake for well over 24 hours now and can't wait to get settled somewhere a little more permanent tomorrow.

  1. Oh Rebekkah! Glad you made it safe and sound. What a tough trip---4 flights! I don't think I've ever done that.

Don't you love going to church in some new place?! It's amazing how at home you can feel even while so far away.

So excited for you! (Especially now that I'm not worried about you just getting there...) Can't wait to read your blog each day.

  2. Yea! You made it! I loved to hear about your trip to church! How fun is that! Glad you are able to have the saints there and people from work. So, I talked to Jessica and she said you were able to do some shopping! Can't wait to see you cool clothing and quilt! It can be for your new bed in the fall. What a huge trip. I am sure you are exhausted! Hope you get some sleep! We love you! Thanks for writing. Tell us some more of those fun facts, we love to hear about what it is like there!
    Love you! Mom!

  5. Wahoo! It seems travel can't be complete without crazy traffic. I'm just glad you don't have to try driving in it by yourself.

  6. The tuktuk looks an awful lot like the "tricycles" we road all over in the Philippines. :) Have fun!
